A 1953 Re-Release (re-titled "The Atomic Monster" for this re-release) Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Man-Made Monster, the 1941 George Waggner Universal science fiction (sci-fi) horror thriller ("Based on the story entitled 'The Electric Man' by H.J. Essex, Sid Schwartz and Len Golos") starring Lionel Atwill, Anne Nagel, Frank Albertson, Samuel S. Hinds, Lon Chaney Jr. (Chaney is billed last on posters, in spite of him being the star of the movie, but his credit is much larger than those who come before him), and Russell Hicks. Note that Lon Chaney Jr.'s career, despite his famous father, had been pretty much going nowhere in the 1930s. In 1939, he gave a wonderful performance as Lenny in "Of Mice and Men", which gained him much acclaim, but did not lead to better parts. This was his first starring role in a Universal horror movie, and later the same year, he was given the lead in "The Wolf Man", which became his signature role, and which he reprised several times over the 1940s! There are several defects scattered along the edges and foldlines/crossfolds and there are several significant areas of foldline and/or crossfold separation. Many of the defects have been repaired with tape from the back that may bleed through to the front. The entire upper vertical foldline is separated as most of the upper horizontal fold is separated as well. The poster is in much lesser condition.
