An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Men, the 1924 Dimitri Buchowetzki Paris France silent romantic melodrama ("What I Know About Men by Pola Negri"; "Story by Buchowetzki"; "Adapted by Paul Bern"; about a successful actress who hates men, but who takes money from wealthy suitors, and she finally does fall for one man, but he is penniless, and he embezzles money to impress her, and he goes to jail, but she gets him released and true love prevails!) starring Pola Negri, Robert Frazer, Robert Edeson, Josef Swickard, and Monte Collins. Note that Pola Negri had been a huge European star, but her first few American movies were not all that successful, so Paramount imported Russian director Dimitri Buchowetzki, who had directed her in Europe, in the hopes that he could match his successes in the United States. They hired Paul Bern (who achieved fame as the husband of Jean Harlow, who committed suicide under cryptic circumstances) to write the screenplay. But Negri never matched her European success, and Buchowetzki had little success in the U.S. either. Finally, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Condition: fair. The card was folded down the middle at one time and it is stained down the middle, with paper loss in the center of the top border. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
