Important Added Info: Note that this script is the revised draft from August 14, 1972. Also note that the writers are not credited on this but the IMDb credits Arthur Laurents, and says "additional writer (uncredited)" and lists Francis Ford Coppola, David Rayfiel, and Dalton Trumbo, and given the massive rewriting the the script underwent (see below), we would like to know which writer wrote which part. This script was massively rewritten! It has only a few of the original pages remaining, and they are all in the first 59 pages of the script. Within the first 60 pages are a huge number of blue revision pages from 8/28/72 and some white revision pages from 10/3/72. The entire second half of the movie was rewritten on 10/26/72 and none of the original pages are included in that second half! In addition, there are many loose revision pages from 9/11/72, 10/5/72, and 10/19/72, plus some undated revision pages! Included are as many loose pages as are in the actual script, and we think that they must have gotten so tired of unbinding and rebinding the scripts that they must have just given the loose pages to the actors and told them to fix the scripts!. In addition, there is a 7-page paper-clipped section, which is an added scene from a 4/30/73 revision, plus a 6-page paper-clipped revision from 10/28/72, which is a rewrite of a scene, and that has a letter from Sydney Pollack attached to it that is hand signed by Mr. Pollack, and the name "Vicki" is written at the top of that, because that was Ms. Ewing's character (see below). Amazingly, at some point after this dialog for the new scene was printed, a lot of changes were made to the dialog and they are written in pen. Note that this script was consigned to us directly from director/screenwriter Charles Shyer. Mr. Shyer was married to actress Diana Ewing from 1969 to 1974, and she appeared in this movie while they were married, and she gave this script, which was hers, to Mr. Shyer, and he has consigned it to us. As noted above, there is the 6-page paper-clipped revision from 10/28/72, which has Ms. Ewing's character name on it. There is also a copy of the document giving her salary (which was $1,500 for one week), a 2-page crew list, a 15-page shooting schedule, and a 1-page shooting call, which has Ms. Ewing's name and character underlined, giving when she had to appear. This is definitely her personal copy of the script! Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter!
