An Original Vintage Linenbacked Circus Poster (measures 28 1/4" x 41" [72 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Hamid-Morton Circus, the 1940s circus poster ("Featuring Clyde Beatty and His Wild Animals") promoting a show and featuring art of death-defying female trapeze artists! Note that this circus was founded by George A. Hamid Sr. and Robert Morton in the 1910s. When Robert Morton passed away in 1952, ownership of the circus passed into the sole control of the Hamid family where it remains today. In 1997, George Jr. entered semi-retirement and turned over the day-to-day operations and producing responsibilities to his son, James M. Hamid Sr., and the circus was renamed to Hamid Circus, Inc. In 2011, James Sr. announced his semi-retirement by handing over the reins to his son, James M. Hamid Jr.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned this very same poster in 2015. The person who purchased it from us has re-consigned it to us, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some tears and small paper loss around the edges. Otherwise, the poster was in very nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
