An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 28" x 41 1/4" [71 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Join the Tanks, the 1917 U.S. World War I (WWI) military recruitment poster ("Treat 'em rough!"; "Open to fighting men, all classes 18 to 45") encouraging men to join the newly created United States Tank Corps (later known as the Tank Corps of the American Expeditionary Forces). Note that this poster features August William Hutaf artwork of a ferocious cat above a group of tanks in the midst of battle
Artist: August William Hutaf
Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned this wonderful war poster, which many people consider one of the absolute finest war posters ever created, not just from World War I, but from any war! We auctioned it in 2019 for $4,555, and the person who purchased that poster has reconsigned it to us, and we are auctioning it now, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned!

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has paper loss in the top right corner that slightly touches the tip of the blue background. It has two small tears in the lower left blank border and one has a small piece of tape on the back. There is a small tear in the upper left border that was repaired with a small piece tape from the back, and there are a few other small tears in the rest of the borders, and some have clear tape on the back. Other than the border defects described above, the poster is in really nice condition, and it has never had any restoration other than the tiny pieces of tape on the back. The colors are bright, and this wonderful poster can be displayed exactly as it is, or of course, it would be the simplest of linenbacking jobs, if the new owner chooses to do that.
