An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Hell Divers, the 1932 George W. Hill Navy Naval Air Force military airplane aviation pilot adventure thriller ("They watched wits and dare-deviltry in love and in action! Thrills pile on thrills! For a girl's favor, they defy death in amazing deeds in the sky, and what a hair-raising climax! A big picture, made in co-operation with the U.S. Navy by the man who made 'The Big House'!"; about a crusty old naval officer who clashes with a young by-the-books brash officer) starring Wallace Beery, Clark Gable, Conrad Nagel, Dorothy Jordan, Marjorie Rambeau, Marie Prevost, and Cliff Edwards. Note that sections of this movie are set on one of the first Navy aircraft carriers, The Saratoga, and the airplanes landing on the carrier were still bi-planes, so this movie is wonderful to watch if you are a fan of maritime and war history! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that posters from this movie are incredibly rare! We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet (20 years ago for $760), a half-sheet, and three window cards, and NO other first release posters until we were consigned this insert! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had creases and some tiny bits of paper loss on the folds. It had diagonal creases above and below the left end of the middle fold. It had a 7" tear starting in the lower right border and going through the end of the title, and the "S" of "PREVOST". It had tiny pinholes and some tears around the edges, with some smudges and scuffs in the yellow background areas. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
