Date Sold 2/21/2021 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 7 issues of Daily Variety, the entertainment industry newspaper published in Los Angeles, California. It was first published as a weekly newspaper in 1905, but in 1933, it became a daily (no doubt because of the competition from The Hollywood Reporter, which had started in 1930). For many years, Daily Variety was the leading trade paper in the movie industry (The Hollywood Reporter finally overtook it in 2007. Amazingly, ever since 1933, it was published 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year!) Note that once a year, this film industry standard did a special "anniversary issue" that was hundreds of pages long. Everybody who was anybody in the business was compelled to take out an ad, and your standing in the industry was judged by how big an ad you took out! Note that because this was a daily paper, the vast majority of people threw it away, just as they did all daily newspapers. Finding any issues of this from decades ago is incredibly difficult, and finding a specific issue is like finding a needle in a haystack, because it seems that nobody saved them! Measurements: 9" x 12"Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of each magazine, but no other images. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: very good. Please note that we briefly attempted to check to see if the magazines are complete and uncut, and we believe that they are. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazines. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images of the covers.
