An Original Vintage World's Fair Exposition Standee (measures 14 1/2" x 19" [37 x 48 cm]) (Learn More)

1939 New York World's Fair, the 1939 to 1940 international exposition held from April to October 1939 and 1940. The theme of the fair was split into different zones: Transportation, Communications and Business, Food, and the Government Zone. There was also the Billy Rose Aquacade, a musical and water show that starred Johnny Weissmuller and Eleanor Holm. Of special note in the World's Fair was the "Trylon and Perisphere", which were two giant structures side by side, connected by an escalator. The Perisphere contained a diorama showing "The World of Tomorrow". These two structures became the symbol of the World's Fair, and the image of the two structures (in blue and orange) were put on licensed products advertising the World's Fair (it was one of the most licensed events ever, with over 25,000 different products created, from teaspoons to tables, and everything imaginable!). If you want to learn more about this World's Fair (one of the greatest ever held), go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1939_New_York_World%27s_Fair!

Artist: Shawl, Nyeland & Seavey
Important Added Info: Note that this standee was created in 1937, to promote this exposition over the coming two years before it opened in 1939. It was created on a heavy board with an easel back, but the easel is gone.

Condition: good. The easel backing of the standee is not present. The standee has smudges and some faint stains scattered throughout. It has some paper loss and pinholes around the edges, and scratches at the top center. But in spite of these defects, it still displays pretty well.
