An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, the 1943 Roy William Neill Universal monster horror thriller (the fifth Universal Frankenstein movie) starring Ilona Massey (as Baroness Elsa Frankenstein), Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the Frankenstein Monster), Lionel Atwill, Maria Ouspenskaya, Rex Evans, Dwight Frye, Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as the Wolf Man; "Lon Chaney in his most terrifying role"; "Lon Chaney as The Wolfman"), Dennis Hoey, Jeff Corey, Doris Lloyd, Adia Kuznetzoff, Martha Vickers (billed as "Martha MacVicar" in her first movie), Gil Perkins (who doubled for Bela Lugosi in some action scenes), and Eddie Parker (who doubled for Lon Chaney Jr. in some action scenes). Note that in this movie, Bela Lugosi took over the role of the Frankenstein monster which had been played by Lon Chaney Jr. in the previous movie, because Lon Chaney Jr. reprised his role of the Wolf Man, which he had created in the 1941 Universal classic! Important Added Info: Note that this insert (and four others that we are offering in separate eBay auctions) has been dry-mounted on to a heavy board backing. This was done over 25 years ago by a framer. Many collectors look down on dry-mounting posters, primarily because of the fear that the dry-mount material will harm the poster in some way, and some collectors do not like dry-mounting because it makes the poster harder to send, because it needs to be sent in a large flat package. These five inserts offer ample evidence that the fear of damage is either completely unfounded, or greatly overstated! The posters show no signs of having changed in appearance from when they were first dry-mounted decades ago. I don’t know if 20 or 50 years from now that will still be true, but I can't see any reason why it should not be true. Of course, if one wanted to, one could have the inserts removed from the backing board. It needs to be done by a professional restorer, but it is far easier to remove an insert from a backing board than a one-sheet, as the heavier paper stock of the insert means far less chance that the surface of the poster could be damaged during the removal process. I think a person would be silly to not bid on one of these five posters because they were dry-mounted, but please do not bid on them if you could not accept their being dry-mounted, or are not willing to pay to have them removed from the dry-mounting. Condition: good to very good. the poster was dry-mounted to a board ; the poster has tack holes in the corners with circular stains around the tack holes; there were extra creases across all three folds; there is a small piece of tape in the left blank border at the top foldline; there are three tape stains in the lower part of the right blank border (near the bottom of the title); there are light smudges down the right edge of the poster; there are light smudges in the face and upper body of the sexy woman at bottom right; there was a fine line of separation along the bottom fold in the purple area, and someone applied some coloring to it; there are some scuffs in the solid background areas of the poster. Other than the above defects, the poster is in pretty nice condition. I would think many collectors would be able to accept its defects, and display it exactly as it is, although of course a professional restorer could remove it from the backing board, repair the defects, and the poster would look great!
