Also included is a vinyl sticker (5" x 5"), plus a certificate of authenticity (see below) (Learn More) Banksy is an anonymous English graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter from the 1990s to the present. Banksy displays his art publicly on walls or self-built propped pieces. He directed the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop in 2010. Banksy has managed to maintain his anonymity, which seems remarkable! One of his best known works was auctioned at Sotheby's in London and after the auction closed, Banksy activated a device built into its frame which caused half of the work to be shredded, and the new owner was delighted, because "experts" declared that this mutilation had at least doubled the value of the work! Important Added Info: Note that in 2010, Banksy drew an image of a rat on the side of a San Francisco building, with graffiti that reads "THIS IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE". The owner of the building was going to have it removed, and Brian Greif started a campaign to raise the money necessary to remove the art in such a way that it could be preserved. He started an online campaign called "Save the Banksy", and through it was able to raise enough money to save this wonderful art. Our consignor contributed to this campaign, and he received two limited edition prints that are signed (by Brian Greif) and numbered on the back. He has consigned one of those two to us, and we are auctioning it here, together with a special 5" x 5" vinyl sticker that he received as well, and also the certificate of authenticity, which is for both prints he received (#27 and #28 of 50), but this auction is for #28.
