An Original Vintage One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More)

Up Jumped the Devil, the 1941 William Beaudine black African American fantasy comedy ("The snazzy, jazzy laff-hit of the year!"; "When he made love... up jumped the devil!"; about a pair of parolees who are desperate to go straight, and so they take a job as a butler and maid, even though it requires one of them to dress in drag, but then they run into a man they met in prison, who convinces them to help him work in a carnival with a fake fortune telling act, in which the man is dressed as an Arab name "Swamee Reever", and they get in all kinds of trouble) starring Mantan Moreland, Shelton Brooks (famed black African American songwriter and composer in one of his few acting roles), Maceo Bruce Sheffield, Myrtle Fortune, Patsy Hunter, Millie Monroe, and an "all star colored cast". Note that this movie featured a cross dressing Mantan Moreland in drag as the maid, and also featured a "Miss Black America" beauty pageant obviously modeled on the Miss America pageant!
