An Original Vintage Paperbacked Magazine Cover (measures 11 1/4" x 16") (Learn More)

Woman's Home Companion was the most important "woman's magazine" of the mid 20th century. It was first published in the 1880s, and by the 1930s and 1940s, it sold millions of copies a month, and each issue included fiction that was aimed at females, along with illustrated articles, and tons of ads for women! But the 1950s saw a huge drop in advertising revenue, and the magazine ceased publication in 1957. Note that at some point, this magazine changed its name to "Ladies' Home Companion". We are unclear exactly when this occurred, and research on the Internet did not give a clear answer. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: J.C. Leyendecker
Important Added Info: Note that this paperbacked magazine cover is from a collection that was consigned to us by a man who collected the covers of these magazines only (of course choosing the ones with the absolute best art!), and he had all of them professionally paperbacked, which not only presents them far better, but which makes them extremely easy to frame and enjoy (not only are these works of art by famous artists of the early to middle 20th century, but they also are very nostalgic, showing America when it was growing from a minor country to the leading world power, and any of them look great framed on a wall!).

What IS paperbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the cover had paper loss in the top right corner and some small tears down the left side. Overall, the cover was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The restorer backed the cover "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting.
