An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Down the Stretch, the 1936 William Clemens horse racing sports betting gambling melodrama (about a teen from reform school who is adopted and becomes a jockey; his real father was a jockey who took bribes, and some gamblers threatened to reveal the truth about his father if he doesn't do the same; in the end, the boy both clears his name and wins the English Derby) starring Patricia Ellis, Mickey Rooney, Dennis Moore, Willie Best (as William Best), Gordon Hart, Gordon Elliot, Joseph Crehan, and Mary Treen NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. This poster was linenbacked, and it had fairly significant defects which were somewhat repaired during the linenbacking process (we describe both the defects as well as the quality of the restoration below). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). the poster had a 1" x 2" area of paper loss in the center of the top of the image (fortunately, entirely in the yellow background), with tears around the missing area; there were tears and small areas of paper loss down the entire vertical foldline; there was separation, creases, and some tears on the horizontal foldlines; there was paper loss in the bottom right corner and small paper loss in the left of the bottom border; there were some other tears and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. The poster was pretty well linenbacked. From any distance away, the defects described above are not really noticeable or distracting. Learn More about condition grades
