Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

Western Racketeer, the 1934 Robert J. Horner cowboy western starring Bill Cody, Edna Aslin, Hal Taliaferro (billed as "Wally Wales"), George Chesebro, Richard Cramer, and Bud Osborne. Note that Robert J. Horner is a legendary figure in bad cinema (he deserves to be better remembered than Ed Wood!). He was born with no legs, but got around in an electric wheelchair. In 1920, he wrote the screenplays for a couple of westerns, and in 1921, he directed a short, "The Scorpion's Sting", and over the next 14 years, he directed 39 more westerns, before forcibly being retired in 1935, and he died in 1942. But what sets his movies apart is that they were apparently beyond bad, and he only got worse with the addition of sound! He financed his movies by getting would-be actors to invest in them in return for parts, but he often cheated them and didn't put them in the movies, and he was regularly sued for fraud by the few name actors he got to appear in his movies, and also by distributors that he cheated! Someday someone will make a movie of his life, and surely Johnny Depp will head the list of those considered to star in it! Many of the movies (if not all) that he made are lost, because he distributed most of the movies himself, and they were shown until they fell apart. In addition, original movie paper from any of his 40 movies is incredibly rare! We have only auctioned four lobby cards from any of his movies, and we have never seen a single poster!
