An Original 1968 Vintage Linenbacked Special Movie Poster (measures 16" x 20 1/4" [41 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) Magical Mystery Tour, the 1967 English made-for-TV rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) music movie starring The Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr) and Victor Spinetti. This was first shown on English television in 1967. It received a theatrical release in England in 1968 and also a limited U.S. theatrical release in 1968. It also was released in other countries after that time. It had a wider U.S. release in 1976. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster, which we have never auctioned before, has some mystery to it. It is undated, and it may be that it is from when the film was first released theatrically in England or the U.S. in 1968, but the earliest time that we can find the tagline at the bottom of the poster and the image associated with it in a newspaper ad is from 1975 (which would be early advertising for the 1976 wide U.S. release), but not before, but it is certainly possible that this image was used earlier than then and we just couldn't find an example of it. So we can't say for certain whether this poster is from 1968, 1975, or 1976, because the movie was shown at all those times. Please do not bid unless you can accept this uncertainty on this incredibly rare Beatles poster. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had seven horizontal folds approximately 2" apart, so that likely occurred while it was rolled and handled roughly. There are a few creases and scuffs in the solid black areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
