eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 9x034 MY COUSIN 23x35 1sh 1918 famous Enrico Caruso as both sculptor and opera singer, ultra-rare! Date Sold 10/20/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 22 3/4" x 35" [58 x 89 cm]) (Learn More) My Cousin, the 1918 Edward Jose silent romantic love triangle comedy melodrama ("Story and scenario by Margaret Turnbull"; about a poor sculptor who has a cousin who is a famous opera singer, and he loves a girl, but the girl's father wants her to marry someone with more money) starring Enrico Caruso (in one of his rare movie roles, in a dual role as a sculptor and his opera star cousin), Henry Leone, Carolina White, Joseph Riccardi, and A.G. Corbelle. Note that while Enrico Caruso was a legendary opera singer, he did not stand out as an actor, and this was one of only two feature movies he appeared in, and of course, he plays an opera singer here (he plays lookalike cousins, one of whom has a mustache, no doubt so that the audience could tell them apart!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! We auctioned a lobby card twenty years ago, and we have never auctioned any other items from this movie in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this one-sheet likely originally measured 28" x 42" with very wide blank borders, but that at some point (likely soon after it was created) the poster was trimmed and glued to a thick piece of wood (perhaps a door!) and it now measures 22 3/4" x 35" [58 x 89 cm]. It is quite possible that someone found it glued to a wall or door and cut away the portion that had the poster on it. We can ONLY send this poster in a large flat package which will measure approximately 25" x 37" x 2", and will weight approximately twenty pounds, because the poster is mounted on to a heavy piece of wood. Please bear this in mind before bidding on this poster (incorporate the added shipping cost into the amount you bid). Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: fair to good. The poster is mounted to a 1" thick piece of wood, and it has parts of its blank borders trimmed away. There is some damage around the edges, and some staining scattered in the poster, more so in the statue (see our image). The poster was almost surely coated with some sort of clear varnish to protect it, which might make restoration more difficult. This incredibly rare poster could be displayed as it is. While restoration can be performed, it would be a difficult and complicated job, so bear all of this in mind before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
