An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (measures 13" x 19") (Learn More)

Ladri di biciclette (released in the U.S. in 1949 as "The Bicycle Thief" and in England as "Bicycle Thieves"), the classic 1948 Vittorio De Sica Italian neorealist melodrama ("Academy Award outstanding foreign language film 1949"; about a man and his son who search for a vital missing bicycle; most people rightfully consider this one of the handful of absolute finest movies ever made!) starring Lamberto Maggiorani, Enzo Staiola, Lianella Carell, Gino Saltamerenda, and Vittorio Antonucci. Note that the Italian title literally translates to "The Bicycle Thieves", but for unknown reasons, the movie became "The Bicycle Thief" when it was released in English-speaking countries!

Artist: Carlantonio Longi
Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this Italian movie! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards.

Condition: good to very good. Note that this photobusta has been professionally paperbacked. Prior to restoration, this card had many creases throughout (these have been minimized, but they are still visible). It also had smudging, pinholes, and small tears around the edges (some extending into the image background). These defects are now minimized and are mostly only visible when the poster is held at an angle to the light. The restoration is slightly visible from a few feet away. It is very difficult to find photobustas without creases and other minor defects (perhaps this is due to the special paper they are printed on?), so we believe most collectors of photobustas would be happy with this poster, but if you are the sort of collector who would be bothered by the restoration described above, please do not bid on this photobusta!
