An Original Vintage Theatrical Advertising Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More)

The Fuller Brush Man is in Town, the 1920s glass slide advertisement ("Oh Min! The Fuller Brush Man is in town."; "Watch for him! He wears the Fuller Trade Mark Button. He will call and present you with a Fuller Brush, also demonstrate the Twisted in Wire brushes.") promoting Fuller Brushes and featuring comic art of Bill calling his wife Min from the classic comic strip, "Min & Bill", by Sidney Smith. Note that the Fuller Brush Company was started in 1906, with door-to-door salesmen, and it became an American icon, because everyone had been visited by "The Fuller Brush Man". There was a comedy with Red Skelton by that name in 1948. In the 1960s, they switched their sales force to primarily women, because they could no longer attract men. In the mid-1980s, when women were no longer satisfied with this job either, they switched to selling their brushes in other ways! This was an ad that was shown along with coming attraction glass slides between movies at a 1920s movie theater. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: Sidney Smith
Important Added Info: This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see!

Condition: good to very good. All of the tape is missing from the edges of the slide, but it is otherwise in pretty good condition!
