He Who Gets Slapped, the 1924 Victor Sjostrom (billed as "Victor Seastrom"; he was a major Swedish director of the 1910s and 1920s, and late in his life, he turned to acting, giving memorable performances in several Ingmar Bergman movies, most notably "Wild Strawberries") silent circus clown romantic melodrama ("Victor Seastrom's production of the famous stage play by Leonid Andreyev"; about a French researcher who has his discovery stolen by a colleague, who also seduces his wife!; he is so humiliated that he not only joins the circus and becomes a clown, but his act consists of other clowns constantly slapping him, yet somehow he finds a new love in the circus) starring Lon Chaney Sr. (in the title role), Norma Shearer, John Gilbert, Tully Marshall, Harvey Clark, and Ruth King. Note that this was the first movie that started production under "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer" and is also the first movie to feature the lion logo!

Condition: good to very good. the poster was paperbacked; prior to restoration it appears there was paper loss in the lower corners (most of the solid red areas were affected), there were creases, smudges, and small tears around the edges of the card and the card had been folded down the center. A very expert restorer paperbacked the card and replaced the missing corners so expertly that I would think few people could tell there was any restoration at all in those areas. They also minimized the creases and border defects so much that they can only be seen from close-up. The card really looks quite nice!
