An Vintage Original Framed Oil Painting (measures 12 1/2" x 16" with frame that measures 23 1/2" x 27 1/2")(Learn More)
Dorothy Jordan was an actress from the 1920s to the 1950s. She was a leading lady in the early 1930s, but she gave it all up after marrying Merian C. Cooper in 1933. She wanted to come out of retirement for Gone with the Wind, and she screen tested for the role of Melanie, but it was not to be. 20 years later, she appeared in three John Ford movies, including The Searchers. She passed away in 1988 at the age of 82.
Artist: Mila Baine
Important Added Info:Note that this painting was created by Mila Baine. We have seen references to her being a cover artist for movie magazines in the 1930s and 1940s, and we have auctioned a few magazines from the early 1930s with covers by her. We would think this painting is from the 1940s, and we would be surprised if it was from after that. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note this framed painting will need to be sent in a very large package that measures approximately 26" x 30" x 3", so bear this expense in mind before bidding.
