An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie, the 1940 Ray Taylor singing cowboy western musical starring Johnny Mack Brown, Fuzzy Knight, Kathryn Adams, Jimmy Wakely and His Rough Riders, Nell O'Day, and Pat J. O'Brien (billed as "Pat O'Brien"; not THE Pat O'Brien who was part of the "Irish Mafia" with Cagney and McHugh, but another actor who appeared in 17 films between 1921 and 1941) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not well restored. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had an extra horizontal foldline just above the regular top foldline, tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, and minor fold and border wear. At some point after the poster was linenbacked, an area at the lower left was water stained, both the poster and the linen. The area starts in the "U" of "UNIVERSAL" in the small writing at the bottom and travels upward diagonally and ends to the left of the "B" of "Bury" in the title. I would think the poster should be removed from the current backing and re-backed. Since it was in pretty nice condition prior to backing, it surely should be relatively easy to do, and should look great after it is re-backed.
