An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

Hey Fellers! Roscoe Fatty Arbuckle, a circa 1932 full-color stock poster for the six Vitaphone comedy shorts starring Fatty Arbuckle made between 1932 and 1933 ("The funniest fat man of the screen is here today in a howling COMEDY riot"; "Fatter and funnier than ever"; "It's a Vitaphone comedy that'll make you laff yourself silly"). Of course, Arbuckle had been the leading silent comedian of the late 1910s, but then his career was virtually ended in a sex scandal in 1921. Although he was acquitted of the charges, he could not appear in movies for several years, although he stayed in the business directing, and in the early 1930s, he resurfaced in these comedy shorts. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that posters from any of the Vitaphone Short Subjects are extremely rare, likely because virtually no theaters would have had an interest in displaying them (since they were already showing two feature films, and it was unlikely anyone would come to the theater to see the short subject being shown!), so it seems that next-to-no theaters ordered these, and virtually nobody saved them. I have only had a handful of Vitaphone one-sheets over all the years I have sold movie posters. In 2000, a man discovered two examples of the poster offered here, in similar condition. I auctioned one of them in 2000 for $1,380, and I am now offering the second example. I would be very surprised if there is a third example of this poster existing!

Condition: very good to fine. The poster had a very few tiny tears in the vertical foldline and creases across the top and bottom foldline. There were some pinholes in the corners and a few in the borders. The top blank border of the poster was unevenly folded back at one time. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and looks great!
