An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm]; 58 pages) (Learn More)

First National Pictures 1926-27, the 1926 campaign book, sent to theater owners to encourage them to show First National movies. The book includes many pages with one and two-page spreads on First National's upcoming movies. Some of the movies and stars advertised include Colleen Moore in Twinkletoes, Norma and Constance Talmadge, Richard Barthelmess in The Amateur Gentleman, Harry Langdon, Subway Sadie, The Crystal Cup, The Daring Venus, Hell's Kitchen, and many, many more. Note that, because First National at this time wanted to be one of the leading studios (and they were going to become much bigger when they would soon merge with Warner Bros.!), and they created really wonderful artwork campaigns for their upcoming movies in this campaign book, and most have the artist's name on the ads (they are by a number of different artists)! We have included images of the cover of the book and many of the two-page spreads (and we did not make a big effort to find the best ones!). Note that even though this campaign book was sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived. I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is extremely rare! Finally, note that campaign books in general are extremely rare, and the best of them have often sold for hundreds of dollars, and in the case of the very finest, thousands of dollars!

Important Added Info: Note that we once before auctioned an exhibitor magazine that contained this campaign book, but we had NEVER before auctioned this "standalone" version until we were consigned this one!

Condition: very good to fine. The hardcovers have some minor wear, but generally, the book is in really nice condition!
