Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this first release window card! Our consignor tells us that he knows of two other examples of this window card in existence, and only one example of the other style window card. And of course, first release Dracula posters of any size are all beyond rare! There are unusual collector stamps on the back of the poster that give it a wonderful provenance. Legendary horror collector Ron Borst stamped the back of the center of the poster with his stamp that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Ronald V. Borst JAN 1978", and he stamped it four evenly spaced times. Either before or after Mr. Borst owned it, another legendary horror collector, John Antosiewicz, also stamped the back with his stamp, which reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF John Antosiewicz", and not to be outdone, he stamped it five times on the back of the middle! None of these nine stamps have any effect on the front, and they certainly make for an interesting provenance!
Condition: very good. The window card was never folded. It has a tack hole in each corner and in the upper left and upper right border at the bottom of the top play dates area. It has a few faint smudges and scuffs scattered throughout. Someone hit on an odd way of framing the poster, which is that they put 1" wide white tape on the back of all four borders, which we guess they then used to keep the window card in place within a frame. We are not sure why this was done, but it does not affect the front, and of course, a professional or talented amateur could remove that tape. We hope the new owner of this wonderful window card will display it where many people can view it!
