Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) The Lonely Sex, the 1959 Richard Hilliard kidnapping crime thriller ("His desperate cry tears thru the night..."; "With all the frustrations of... The Lonely Sex"; about a sexually frustrated mentally unbalanced man that kidnaps a young woman in the deluded hope that she will become his "girlfriend" and his extreme loneliness) starring Jean Evans, Karl Ludwig Lindt, Leon Benedict, Mary Gonzalez, and Carl Collyer. Note that this movie was made the year prior to both "Psycho" and "Peeping Tom", two major films from highly respected directors (Alfred Hitchcock and Michael Powell), and it has a similar plot line, and yet it is completely forgotten today, except by major film buffs. It only had a running time of 58 minutes, and there is brief nudity at the beginning of the movie, and it is often dismissed as simply another "sexploitation" movie of the time, but it was really quite different, with an attempt to both understand and feel pity for the mentally unbalanced kidnapper, just as would occur a year later in the above two major movies. There are minor creases in the foldlines. There are a few smudges in the borders. There is a 2" tear in the upper right border extending into the image background.. Note that this is one of a collection of 39 extremely rare burlesque, sexploitation, and exploitation movie posters from 1938 to 1979 offered by eMoviePoster this week on eBay. These posters are far more rare than regular movie posters because they played in very few theaters. Few of these posters were printed and few survive (especially those from before 1970). Included in this collection are some of the most classic of these titles, including films of Russ Meyer and Radley Metzger.
