An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Chapter #14 (The Chute that Failed) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Hop Harrigan, America's Ace of the Airways, the 1946 Derwin Abrahams airplane aviation fighter pilot action adventure serial ("America's Ace of the Airways"; "Murdering guns blaze with thrills... chills... horror!"; "A Columbia Serial"; "Based upon the cartoon 'Hop Harrigan' appearing in All-American Comics Magazine"; "Created by John Blummer") starring William Bakewell (in the title role as Hop Harrigan), Jennifer Holt, Robert 'Buzz' Henry, Sumner Getchell, and Emmett Vogan. Note that Hop Harrigan started in All-American Comics, as did many classic DC superheroes, including The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. He was not a true superhero, because he did not have super powers, and he was much like Tailspin Tommy, who preceded him. In 1941, he became a costumed hero, called "The Guardian Angel", but that only lasted four issues, and he returned to his uncostumed self. He never really "caught on" in a big way, but in 1946, Columbia was looking for additional superheroes to make movies out of, and they hit on this character, and made this serial, but it likely was not very successful, because movie paper on it is incredibly rare! If anyone knows more about this serial, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release U.S. paper form this serial is extremely rare! This is likely because the movie was quickly re-released in 1957, and whatever first release paper was left was likely used at that time. We have never before auctioned this particular one-sheet from chapter 14! Condition: good to very good. The poster has tiny creases, tears, bits of paper loss along portions of the vertical foldline and some separation in the crossfolds. There are creases around the edges with a few small tears. The crossfolds and some of the tears are backed by tape that very slightly bleeds through to the front. It is otherwise in generally nice condition and after linenbacking the very rare poster would look great! Learn More about condition grades
