As a spectacular Saturday Evening Post serial is brought to the screen!"; "From the Novel by David Goodis"; about a man who was wrongfully convicted of killing his wife, and he escapes from San Quentin and then has plastic surgery to disguise his appearance, and he hitchhikes a ride with beautiful Lauren Bacall, who offers to help him find out who actually killed his wife) starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Bruce Bennett, Agnes Moorehead, Tom D'Andrea, Clifton Young, and Douglas Kennedy. Note that this was the third movie in which Humphrey Bogart co-starred with Lauren Bacall. They first met during the filming of "To Have and Have Not" in 1944, and then were married in 1945. They re-teamed for "The Big Sleep" in 1946, and then made this movie the following year. They teamed again in "Key Largo" in 1948, but they did not make another movie together after that, likely having a lot to do with their having two children. Our consignor purchased it many years ago from the famous French poster shop Intemporal, owned by the late Stanislas Choko, and at that time, Mr. Choko had never seen this poster before, and we have not ever seen it either! This is one of three posters our consignor purchased from Intemporal many years ago, and we are auctioning all three, in three separate auctions. Also note that this poster had a blank top that was trimmed off, so that it then measured 13 1/4" x 18 1/4" [34 x 46 cm]. The owner then had it nicely matted, and the entire display measures 17 1/2" x 22 1/2", and it is ready to frame and hang on the new owner's wall! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a blank top that was trimmed off, and also the other non-image areas of the borders were mostly trimmed off, including the small printing that was once in the bottom border. It had two horizontal folds near the center and a vertical fold. Someone had it mounted onto linen with slight restoration, and it was matted and framed and displayed. It could be re-framed and displayed as it is, or one could choose to remove the mat and then frame it a different way. We don't want to remove the mat, because we are afraid it might damage the mat, and the new owner might want to keep the mat. If they don't want to keep the mat, we can remove the poster from the mat, and then it can be shipped rolled. Learn More about condition grades
