What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had darkened, typical of German posters of this period. It was printed in two panels designed to overlap, and there is paper loss in the right of the top of the bottom section. There is some paper loss in the vertical fold in the man's forehead and some smudges and tears around the edges of the poster, with some small tears and tiny paper loss on the rest of the folds. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
