An Original Vintage Theatrical Trade-Ad (measures 8 3/4" x 12 1/4" [22 x 31 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Peacock Alley, the 1930 Marcel De Sano New York City stage play acting romantic love triangle musical ("An All Talking Singing Dancing Production"; "All Talking"; about a chorus girl in love with a millionaire, but after they spend the night together at a hotel, he refuses to marry her, so she calls her old boyfriend from Texas, who comes, and they are married that day, but the hotel detective remembers her from being there with the millionaire, and asks her about it, which causes her new husband much distress, and she gets furious and leaves, but later, she gets a new show and reconciles with the millionaire) starring Mae Murray, George Barraud, Jason Robards Sr., Richard Tucker, and William L. Thorne. Note that in 1922, Mae Murray had starred in another movie that was also called "Peacock Alley", but oddly, it was not only not an earlier version of this movie, but it was also unrelated to this movie, except for the title (perhaps she just really loved that title!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: From the 1920s on, studios would create elaborate trade ads, often in full color, and often using the finest artists of the day. They would run these ads in their studio yearbooks and exhibitor magazines, and they would also print those trade ads separately and mail them individually to theater owners, trying to get them to book that specific movie. Sometimes those books and magazines are separated and the ads, which now greatly resemble the individually printed trade ads, are sold individually. The trade ad offered here was removed from a studio yearbook. It can be framed and displayed (but many trade ads have different images on each side, so one must choose which side to display if it is framed!). Condition: good. There is a tear at left on both pages that has been repaired with tape from the front and back and there is some separation at the end of the horizontal fold that has been repaired with tape from the back. There are some scuffs and smudges throughout the ad. Learn More about condition grades
