An Original Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 251 pages) (Learn More)

The Theory & Practice of Poster Art, the 1934 classic book by Duke Wellington, detailing various techniques of poster artistry and the reasons behind them. The book details every aspect of how movie posters were made in the 1920s and 1930s and is profusely illustrated throughout, with lots of movie posters of the 1920s and 1930s, many of which are in the process of being created. Note that this original 1934 edition of the book is incredibly rare! Note that this book is SO rare that there was a 1986 facsimile edition. The reason this book was reprinted was to serve as a textbook to the basic principles of poster design, which were just as applicable in 1986 (or the present day) as they were in 1934.

Condition: good to very good. The back cover has some scuffing on it and the front cover has the slightest amount of scuffing. The interior of the book was separating from the hardcovers and someone put a wide strip of paper tape down the spine part of the first and last interior blank pages to reinforce the binding. A few of the pages have some faint smudges around the edges, but otherwise, the book is in pretty nice condition!
