An Unfolded Special Poster (measures 15" x 20" [38 x 51 cm]) (Learn More)

Girl Scout Cookie Time, the 1972 poster promoting the sale of Girl Scout Cookies, and featuring colorful Saul Bass art of King Kong clutching a Girl Scout Cookie atop the Empire State building as airplanes fly around him. Note that, while you wouldn't immediately realize it, the wonderful art on this poster is by Saul Bass! It is verified that it is, because it was contained in the 1979 publication "Saul Bass & Associates 1979 IDEA Magazine Special". One wonders if Saul Bass didn't consider having Kong holding a Girl Scout cookie in one hand and an actual Girl Scout (a la Fay Wray) in the other, and perhaps this was considered and rejected as being "going too far"! This special poster is printed on a heavy window card-like paper stock and measures 15" x 20", and was surely intended to be displayed where Girl Scout cookies were sold. It is beyond rare!
Artist: Saul Bass
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster, and that example sold for $333, and that one was in "good to very good" condition.

Condition: good. The poster has slight discoloration scattered in some areas from exposure to moisture (mostly noticeable in the upper corners and at right and there are some tiny drip stains in a few portions of the art.) It has some creases along portions of the edges. It certainly could be backed and some proper restoration could be performed (although I imagine some collectors would certainly choose to display this poster as is).
