An Original Vintage 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Still (Learn More) Corinne Griffith was a major leading actress from the 1910s to the 1960s. She was a very intelligent woman who invested heavily in real estate at just the right time, and when she passed away in 1979 at the age of 84, she was one of the wealthiest women in the world, with a fortune estimated at $150 million! Some of her movies include: The Garden of Eden, The Divine Lady (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Paradise Alley. In addition to acting, she wrote several books, most notably "Papa's Delicate Condition" in 1952, which was about her father, a Methodist minister. In 1963, she sold the rights to the movie version of the book, and she wanted Fred Astaire to play her father, but the studio chose Jackie Gleason, and she greatly disliked the movie! AND James Ford was a mostly uncredited actor from the 1920s to the 1940s. He had a very promising start when he was an extra in The Divine Lady, and star Corinne Griffith was "so struck by his good looks and capable acting" that she recommended he be made into a leading man, and because of her, First National signed him to a long term contract! But he didn't have much success, and by the end of 1929, he was pretty washed up, and he had a string of uncredited roles, through 1948, when he quit the movies for good. He passed away in 1977 at the age of 73. Important Added Info: Note that in our last set of auctions that include multiple stills from single titles, we had 72 sets of stills that came from a wonderful group of just-discovered stills that are from 1927 to 1929, with the majority from 1928 exactly. Now, we are auctioning the remaining stills from this wonderful group, 131, all in separate auctions. In addition to them including a LOT of previously unseen stills (and sometimes from incredibly rare titles!), most of these stills have either snipes on the bottom or back, and many have some pencil writing on the back about the movie or actors. After these stills are auctioned, there will be no more stills from this wonderful collection! Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
