A Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14" x 21") (Learn More) Black Narcissus, the 1947 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger English religious Catholic relationship melodrama ("A story to storm your heart!"; "Drama at the top of the world... where the winds of the exotic past sweep men and women to a strange and fascinating adventure..."; "Adapted from the novel by Rumer Godden"; "Written Produced and Directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger"; about nuns setting up convent in the Himalayas) starring Deborah Kerr (billed on English posters as "[By arrangement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer]"; billed on U.S. posters as "M.G.M. star of 'Hucksters' fame"), Sabu, David Farrar, Flora Robson, Esmond Knight, Jean Simmons, and Kathleen Byron. Note that this movie included some partially built sets that were completed through the judicious use of a matte painting, and the famous "cliff scene" was also filmed with the use of a matte painting! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had one horizontal fold and three vertical folds. There was wear along most of the foldlines, and some faint scuffs scattered in the background areas. The poster had darkened slightly around the edges and there were a few minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer simply backed it "as is" (and the defects described above are not very noticeable or distracting). Learn More about condition grades
