An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/4" [27 x 34 cm]) (Learn More)

Edison's Copyrighted Production of The Passion Play, the 1896 silent Bible based religion melodrama ("All Moving Pictures. True to Life."). It is my understanding that Thomas Edison filmed The Passion Play in 1896, and distributed with great success in that year. In 1898, another company made a different version, called "The Passion Play of Oberammergau", and Edison sued them and was awarded the rights to that movie as well (if this is incorrect or incomplete, please e-mail me further information so that I can update this listing).

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: This window card measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/4" and features an image of Christ being crucified. There was also a second similar window card that measured the same and had a photograph of Thomas Edison. I believe that those who rented the movie in 1896 were given a set of the two window cards!

Condition: good. There are faint smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the card, but they do not prevent you from seeing the entire card, and I would think many collectors could display the card just as it is. It is also likely that a restorer could remove some or all of the smudges and scuffs through chemical means.
