An Original Vintage Theatrical Jumbo Movie Window Card (WC; measures 21" x 28" [53 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Beau Geste, the 1926 Herbert Brenon silent French Foreign Legion military family relationship action adventure war thriller ("From the novel by Percival C. Wren"; about an Englishman who leaves England in disgrace and joins the French Foreign Legion, where his two brothers are serving, and they must deal with a sadistic sergeant and murderous Arabs) starring Ronald Colman (in the title role as Michael 'Beau' Geste; "By arrangement with Samuel Goldwyn"), Alice Joyce, Neil Hamilton (as Digby Geste), Noah Beery Sr. (as Sgt. Lejaune), Mary Brian, William Powell (as the Arab, Boldini!), Norman Trevor, Ralph Forbes (as John Geste), and Victor McLaglen. Note that this movie was remade in 1939, with Gary Cooper, Ray Milland, and Robert Preston as the three brothers, and Brian Donlevy as the sadistic sergeant.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this jumbo window card, but only one in the last 23 years! Also note that jumbo window cards normally measured 22" x 28" and had a vertical format (they were like regular window cards, only much larger). On rare occasions, for major releases, studios would make special horizontal jumbo window cards. The one offered here for the 1926 "Beau Geste" is one of those. It measures 21" x 28", but it has not been trimmed.

Note that this jumbo window card is printed on a heavy paper stock, similar to that of regular window cards of this period. It could not possibly be rolled, and it must be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 23" x 30", so bear this added expense in mind before bidding on this poster.

Condition: very good. The poster has tiny pinholes in the corners and in the center of each border, and a few minor smudges scattered in the image. The card is in really nice condition. Someone used the back of the card to advertise another movie, and they used black paint to write on the back. Fortunately, because the card is printed on a heavy paper stock, the paint from the back truly has no effect on the front.
