Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41"; signed by Barbara Stanwyck) (Learn More)

Ball of Fire, the classic 1941 Howard Hawks romantic opposites-attract comedy ("'I LOVE HIM because he don't know how to kiss .... THE JERK!'"; "Hold on to your hat, Gary... A glamour dish is after your heart!"; "You'll laugh with your heart wide open at this whooping, yet warmly tender comedy-romance! It's Gary in top-form as a stiff-as-a-board professor who unbends with a bang... When a glamour-dish whose slang he's studying treats him to a lesson in curves!"; "Don't be a Drizzle-Puss... I'm just showing you... What 'YUM-YUM' means!"; "A new heart-note in laughter, bright with that Goldwyn glow!"; "Screen play by Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder"; VERY loosely based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, with a gangster's showgirl girlfriend taking refuge with seven nerdy professors, and falling in love with one of them) starring Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; as Sugarpuss O'Shea), Oscar Homolka, Henry Travers, Tully Marshall, Dana Andrews, Dan Duryea, S.Z. Sakall, Tully Marshall, Leonid Kinskey, Richard Haydn, Aubrey Mather, and Allen Jenkins

Condition: good to very good. the poster was linenbacked; prior to restoration the poster had several 3" tears in the top blank area and one diagonal 12" tear that started 3" to the left of center in the top blank border and extends down unevenly coming down through the "E" of "COOPER" to the top crossfold; there were several 2" to 3" tears in the bottom blank border and 8" of separation on the bottom of the vertical foldline; there were some small areas of paper loss in the bottom blank border; there was separation on much of the top and middle crossfolds and in the vertical foldline between the top and middle crossfolds; there were numerous smudges in the white background areas. The poster is in better condition than the above makes it sound! Much of the above defects are simple tears or separations, which are relatively easily restored, and the smudges were almost exclusively in the white background areas. The poster was linenbacked, and the restoration was extremely well done. It is very difficult to see the restoration except when the poster is tilted to the light. It really looks quite nice and there is little restoration in the artwork and title areas. I would think most collectors would be quite happy to display this poster in their home!
