An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) Howard Hawks' His Girl Friday, the classic 1940 Howard Hawks newspaper journalism romantic love triangle comedy ("They're at each other's throats... when they're not in each other's arms!"; "The year's most uproarious romance!"; "I demand my rights... Life... Liberty... and the Pursuit of Rosalind Russell!"; "She learned about men from him!"; "Screen play by Charles Lederer"; "Based on a play by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur"; interestingly, this was a re-make of the classic 1931 newspaper movie, "The Front Page", except this movie had the very clever idea of re-casting one of the male leads as a female, and since the character in the original was named "Hildy Johnson", they were even able to keep the same name!) starring Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell, Ralph Bellamy, Gene Lockhart, Porter Hall, Marion Martin, John Qualen, Roscoe Karns, Cliff Edwards, Frank Jenks, Regis Toomey, Helen Mack, and Abner Biberman NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this herald, and that was 12 years ago! This is one of an excellent collection of 27 rare heralds from the late 1930s and early 1940s which was recently discovered. Many of them are ones we have either never auctioned before or only auctioned once or twice. The heralds were all printed in the U.S., but were mostly used in theaters in Egypt, so most have overprinting on the back for an Egyptian movie theater. Also, almost all of the heralds have either tiny circular holes scattered in the image (sometimes very few, sometimes more), and some of them have larger paper loss somewhere in the image. We strongly suggest you look closely at our images of the fronts and backs of these rare heralds before bidding on them, so you can see the location of the tiny circular holes or larger paper loss. Condition: good to very good. There are three tiny circular holes scattered in the herald and slight bleed-through from the printing on the back. See above for more about the condition of this herald and please look at our super-sized images of both sides before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
