An Original 1937 (from the first release of this movie in the U.K.) Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 12" x 18" [30 x 46 cm]; 16 pages). Also included is a herald that has 4 pages. (Learn More)

Edna Ferber's Come and Get It, the 1936 Howard Hawks & William Wyler romantic love triangle family relationship melodrama ("It's tough.... It's rough....! No punches pulled...!"; "Again Edna Ferber's pen writes with the sweep of 'Cimarron' and the grandeur of 'Show Boat'"; "From the famous novel by Edna Ferber"; about an aspiring businessman who does not marry the girl he loves, because he is set on becoming a major success, and his best friend marries the girl instead; he marries a different woman and has two kids with her, a boy and a girl, and when they grow up, he goes back to see his old friend and the woman he loved; he discovers that the woman died, but the friend had a daughter with her, and she is a duplicate to the woman, and of course, the now old man falls in love with her, but pretends solely to have a "fatherly" interest in her; much more happens, including his own son falling in love with the daughter, and it is an extremely strange movie!) starring Edward Arnold, Joel McCrea, Frances Farmer, Walter Brennan (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Andrea Leeds, and Mady Christians. Note that Frances Farmer plays the dual role of both the lost love of Edward Arnold, and the daughter of that woman, grown up. She does an incredible job, because she makes the two women seem completely different, and you have no trouble believing that they are not the same person. Also note that director Howard Hawks wanted to change the story from the Ferber source novel, and Sam Goldwyn, the producer, strongly disagreed, and they battled over it, and ultimately, Hawks was fired, near the end of filming. Goldwyn brought in William Wyler and it is thought that Wyler directed the last 30 minutes of the movie, but no one is too sure!

Important Added Info: Note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This English pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle. The covers were separated at one time and someone repaired them with clear tape. There are some faint smudges and scuffs scattered on the covers.
