An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 23" x 35") (Learn More)

Behind the Make-Up, the 1930 Robert Milton & Dorothy Arzner vaudeville stage acting romantic melodrama (Powell is a down-and-out vaudeville performer, whose friend is a bicycle riding clown; the friend helps him out, and Powell steals both the clown's act, and his girlfriend!) starring Hal Skelly, Fay Wray, William Powell, Kay Francis, Paul Lukas, E.H. Calvert, and Agostino Borgato. Note that Dorothy Arzner was a director from the 1920s to the 1940s, and she was the only woman director during the "Golden Age" of Hollywood ('20s to '40s) and she was the first woman to join the Directors Guild of America. Arzner was a lesbian at a time when almost no females openly were, and she was surprisingly open about it, often dressing in "men's clothes" and wearing her hair short. She made many "women's movies" and movies with a "feminist" theme. After making "First Comes Courage" in 1943, she made training films for the U.S. Army WACs, and she never returned to making Hollywood movies, becoming a film teacher of directing and screenwriting, teaching at UCLA until her passing in 1979.

Artist: Aberg
Important Added Info: This Swedish poster measures 23" x 35" and that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good to fine. There were pinholes in the top corners and they were roughly removed and there are now tears and tiny paper loss in those two areas. There are some creases, smudges, and a few tiny tears around the edges of the poster and there are creases along the foldlines. Other than the above, the poster has survived in quite nice condition, especially considering that it is 75 years old!
