The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we auctioned this exact photo in 2018, when we auctioned a wonderful collection of around 100 photos (most measured 3.5x5.25, but some measured slightly smaller) that were taken by a man who worked at a large movie theater in the late 1930s and early 1940s, which were in a scrapbook that we were consigned. Now the person who purchased this photo from us in 2018 has reconsigned it, but it is the exact same photo we auctioned then, and it is likely the only example of this photo that exists! Condition: good to very good. There are tiny yellow pieces of tape in each blank corner, with the one in the top left corner slightly extending into the edge of the image (see our images).
