An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Advertising Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

an early 1930s (likely 1931 or 1932) poster advertising a free giveaway at a specific movie theater ("FREE no purchase necessary"; "This Set of 20 colored portraits of your favorite stars FREE - to our customers. Ask for Details"; "Get the set - it's our treat! This offer is made possible thru the courtesy of Hollywood picture news service --- 1165 Broadway - N.Y."). It almost surely was at the height of The Great Depression, when theaters had to give lots of great incentives to get people into the theaters! It is the size of a window card, but actually it is a 14" x 22" thin paper poster that was glued onto a heavy board (likely by the theater so that it could be presented in a window card frame). We have never seen another like it. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: fair. The poster is on a thin paper that is mounted to a heavy board . There is a great deal of uneven staining throughout and some scattered tiny surface paper loss. There are tears and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges and some stains scattered throughout. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored!
