An Original Vintage Unfolded Music Concert Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 37" [62 x 94 cm]) (Learn More)

Star Wars Concert, the 1978 music poster ("The Star Wars symphonic suite by John Williams") promoting a series of concerts featuring the Star Wars musical score by John Williams, and conducted by Zubin Mehta. The concerts began in November of 1977. In the Spring of 1978, the people who ran the concerts sold the idea to other people, and the new owners wanted a single poster image for all of the concerts. This poster was commissioned at that time in 1978 by art director Suzy Rice. It features great art of C-3PO and R2-D2 with a variety of musical instruments by John Alvin. However, it was never released to the public and it was not used at the concerts, which makes it one of the most rare Star Wars posters there is!

Artist: John Alvin
Important Added Info: Note that this ultra rare Star Wars poster was purchased in 2013 from Bunny Alsup, who was "the assistant to the producer" on Star Wars! She worked with Gary Kurtz and George Lucas and "acquired this poster during the post production phase when organizing the film poster collection for the Lucasfilm archives". The letter that she provided the buyer at the time of that sale is included with the poster (see our image). Therefore, this poster has wonderful provenance, guaranteeing it is authentic!

This item was consigned to us from the collection of southern California based Kevin LaNeave, a long-time 30 year+ Star Wars memorabilia collector with an emphasis on original theatrical movie posters as well as other marketing, promotional, and commercial posters from a galaxy far, far away. Click HERE for more about Kevin's collection.

Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has a light water stain in the bottom left corner. It has a few creases around the edges and a very few within the image. Certainly, the poster can be displayed and enjoyed exactly as it is, or one could choose to have a professional remove the water stain, either while backing the poster or it can be done without backing the poster. Either way, the new owner of this poster will have an incredibly rare and desirable poster to display on their wall!
