Schoedsack Africa New York City giant ape fantasy romantic love triangle adventure horror thriller ("'The most awesome thriller of all time' the one and only"; "Not beast.. Not human.... Not devil.. Important Added Info: We found references on the Internet that show that the company ("Elite-Films S.A. Geneve") credited on this Swiss lobby card, which measures 18 3/4" x 22 3/4" [48 x 58 cm], was the company that distributed this classic movie in Switzerland on its first release in 1933 or 1934. So that would make it that much more likely that this card is from the very first Swiss release. The fact that they used an image from the production art, and not from the actual movie, also makes it that much more likely that the card is from the very first Swiss release, because we have not seen production art like this used for any re-releases from any country. But we can't say 100% for certain that this card is from 1933 or 1934 (we were unable to determine the exact date the movie first played in Switzerland). So don't bid on this really cool (and really rare) card unless you can accept the uncertainty as to exactly when it is from. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The lobby card was created by gluing a 11 1/2" x 15 1/2" color still to a heavy backing board that was created with metal grommets in the corners. There would have been a number of different cards in this set, each with the same backing board, but with a different glued on photo, although this is the only one we have ever auctioned. It has small paper residue in the middle of the left border and a tiny bit in the middle of the right border, with small surface paper loss in the middle of the right border. Otherwise, this Swiss is in nice condition (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
