An Original 1941 (from the first release of this movie in the U.K.) Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) The Devil Bat, the 1940 Jean Yarbrough science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy crime mystery horror thriller (based on a story by George Bricker; about a mad scientist who wants revenge on his former employers who he feels cheated him, and he trains his own breed of electrically enlarged bats to hate a specific perfume, and then he gets the female members of his former employers' families to wear it, after which they are brutally killed by the bats) starring Bela Lugosi, Suzanne Kaaren, Dave O'Brien (Dave 'Tex' O'Brien), Guy Usher, Yolande Donlan, and Donald Kerr. Note that "Poverty Row" studio PDC (Producers Distributing Corporation) went bankrupt at the end of the 1930s, and was reorganized as PRC (Producers Releasing Corporation), and this movie was their very first, and it was also their biggest hit! They made a "sequel" in name only called "Devil Bat's Daughter", but it did not match the success of this movie, and in fact, they had few other successes. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this English pressbook! Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: fair to good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle at one time. It has two punch holes in the spine area and staples down the left edge. There is paper loss in the top right of the cover, pieces of clear tape around the edges, and marker writing in the lower right. Obviously, one would rather find a better example of this ultra rare pressbook, but that might be impossible to do. Learn More about condition grades
