Unbeknownst to us, our auction software provider implemented a few visual changes to their auctions last week. Most of them are "behind the scenes" changes that don't affect bidders, but they did make one change many of our bidders noticed. What was this? They added thumbnails that view in the "My Bids" and "Watch List" sections to make it so you can see exactly what the items look like from those pages (a useful feature that saves you time). They also changed some minor things like shading, "mouse-overs", and icons (such as for when an item has been Time Extended).

While these ARE positive changes, they did not notify us that they had made them, and of course, they certainly should have! We immediately received several e-mails about the added thumbnails (on the bids and watch list pages) mostly praising them. Some said the thumbnails were too big, but that was only because we did not know they would be used in that way, and we were able to reduce the thumbnail size with the newly listed auctions and we think doing so makes this change really beneficial for almost all bidders.

A couple of people asked if they would have the option of turning off the thumbnails altogether. But the way the software is set up, it is either "for all customers or no customers", and since most people made it clear this really helps them, we will be leaving this change for all users. Do know that we made it very clear to our auction software provider that in the future they need to let us know well in advance when they plan to make changes like these!
