Last week we announced that we have now expanded our Pay and Hold time period to 4 weeks for U.S. buyers (and 8 weeks for non-U.S. buyers).

This week we are announcing a related change that applies to U.S. customers. We used to give U.S. customers 3 weeks to pay before our "flat rate shipping" changes to "actual cost shipping". Why does the flat rate shipping expire? We offer it as an incentive for people to pay sooner (so that we in turn can pay our consignors on time).

But now we are reducing the time frame for U.S. flat rate shipping from 3 weeks to 2 weeks.

Why? Since we have extended our Pay and Hold to 4 weeks for U.S. customers (and 8 weeks for non-U.S. customers), we are actually giving everyone MORE chances to combine purchases and save money on shipping. However, this only works if people pay promptly, so we are stepping up the incentive to pay on time. LOWERING THE TIME FRAME TO TWO WEEKS MEANS THAT U.S. CUSTOMERS NEED TO NOW PAY AFTER TWO WEEKS (as pay and hold), AND THEN GET QUOTES AND PAY FOR THEIR SECOND TWO WEEKS OF PURCHASES (plus shipping) AFTER FOUR WEEKS TO GET THE GREAT FLAT RATE SHIPPING (that saves them so much on shipping over that four weeks time.

What if you DON'T want to use Pay and Hold? Know that you have 2 weeks (or 6 sets of auctions) to buy from and still get flat rate U.S. shipping (when available*).

What if you DO want to use Pay and Hold? As long as you pay within 2 weeks and use Pay and Hold AND complete your order at the end of 4 weeks, you can still get flat rate U.S. shipping (when available*).

*Remember that some sets of auctions are actual cost to all buyers even if you pay right away (auctions of "oversized" items and of linenbacked posters). We can't give a flat rate on these auctions because the items vary so much in size and weight.

We are hoping that more and more of our customers will switch to using our Pay and Hold system, because it both saves THEM lots of money, and helps us get orders sent faster and more efficiently. IT TRULY IS A "WIN-WIN" FOR EVERYONE!
