Just before Christmas of 1977, Kevin LaNeave saw Star Wars for the first time in his hometown movie theater in eastern North Carolina. Like many
young children in the late 1970s, this outer space fantasy big screen spectacle like no other made an immediate impact on his life. Inspiring
countless hours of playtime with Kenner action figures, vehicles, and play sets, along with coloring books, model kits, and games, the universe that
George Lucas created allowed kids both big and small to imagine worlds, creatures, and mythology not of this Earth. Along with the merchandising aimed
at children during the time of the original trilogy, 20th Century Fox and Lucasfilm launched a film marketing campaign that featured extraordinary
works of movie poster art from well-known artists and soon-to-be known as legends such as Howard Chaykin, Drew Struzan, Tom Jung, Charles White, Roger
Kastel, Tom Chantrell, John Alvin, Kazuhiko Sano, and Noriyoshi Ohrai. In addition to these theatrical poster artists, the artwork of the film's
concept design team of Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston also played heavily into the commercial, ad, and merchandising prints and posters in the early
years of Star Wars. After Return of the Jedi was released in 1983, Kevin LaNeave's playtime with the toys gradually slowed down and diminished.
However, in 1987, around the time of the Star Wars tenth anniversary, new posters appeared promoting "The First Ten Years" - in addition to the
arrival of Star Tours, an out-of-this-world theme park ride attraction having just opened at Disneyland the year before. LaNeave sadly didn't make it
to the Star Wars 10th anniversary convention that year in Los Angeles, but California would soon be on his short-term and long-term destination plans.
LaNeave caught the memorabilia collecting bug then, starting to amass a large collection of Kenner factory sealed toys and Lucasfilm movie posters.
LaNeave attended his first San Diego Comic Convention in 1988, and started making friendships with other noted Star Wars toy and poster collectors
such as "Big John" Williams, Steve Sansweet, Pete Vilmur, and Gus Lopez. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s to follow in the steps of George
Lucas at the University of Southern California's world-famous film school. He has attended countless sci-fi/pop culture conventions around the world
(including many of the Lucasfilm sponsored Star Wars Celebrations), along with Hollywood area special event film industry screenings with cast and
crew discussions.
The film wizardry of Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic inspired LaNeave to pursue a career in the motion picture visual effects
industry. He even got to reach one of his life's dream goals recently by getting a chance to work at ILM in San Francisco, and is hoping to return to
work there again soon - as Disney now plans for many additional Star Wars films in the years to come. In the last 30+ years, LaNeave has amassed a
Star Wars poster collection of more than 200 pieces, most all of which are featured here in this special December Star Wars only auction. His
personally owned posters and prints out of this sale are noted as such in the individual lot description notes. LaNeave's love of the Star Wars films
has captivated him his entire life. He has just decided to down-size his collection and wants to share it with fellow collectors now at this stage in
his life. Rest assured, LaNeave will be in cinemas to see Episode 7: The Force Awakens on opening day like so many of you! eMoviePoster.com is proud
to offer this Kevin LaNeave collection of 220 Star Wars posters (and related Star Wars movie paper items) in this December 2015 Major Auction.
