Charles Murray (sometimes billed as "Charlie Murray") was one of the pioneer actors of early motion pictures. He began acting in 1912 and appeared in 282 movies altogether, 172 of them from before 1920. He was 40 years old when he began acting, and he often played middle-aged man roles (and progressed to old man roles as he aged). He played the title role in the 1925 version of "The Wizard of Oz", and he appeared in the "Cohens & Kellys" series of movies. In the 1910s, he was one of Triangle Keystone's foremost stars, and they created a stone litho artwork personality poster to promote movies in which he appeared. Murray passed away in 1941 at the age of 69.
