E.A. DUPONT

E.A. Dupont (Ewald Andre Dupont) was a newspaper columnist and critic in Germany before becoming a director in 1917. He was a major star of silent German cinema, and his greatest film was Variety in 1925. But he had great difficult adapting to sound movies, and he made a number of movies in the 1930s in Germany, England, and the U.S. (for several different studios), but he never regained the stature he had in the 1920s. One of his last efforts was the very forgettable "The Neanderthal Man" in 1953. What a comedown for such a great talent. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 64.
