Nina Van Pallandt is a Danish-born actress and singer from the 1950s to the 1980s. In the 1950s, she rose to international fame when the man she was having an affair with, Clifford Irving, wrote a "biography" of Howard Hughes, which was only proved to be a complete hoax after Hughes made his first public statement in many years, denouncing the hoax. Van Pallandt testified at Irving's trial, and he went to jail. She became friend with Robert Altman, and he cast her in four of his movies: The Long Goodbye, A Wedding, Quintet, and O.C. and Stiggs, and she had a memorable role in Paul Schrader's American Gigolo. As of 2021, she is still alive at the age of 88!
